Cabling of the Dallas Temp Sensors,

    HI All,

Playing with the Web brick and the dallas sensors and when I use a Breadblock  and made up cable to connect the sensor and reboot the Webbrick the webbrick does not connect back to the network. When I disconnect one of the leads from the sensor the Webbrick is able to log back to the network.

Also when I connect the sensor to the Webbrick the sensor gets very hot to the touch! not sure what I am doing wrong, any thoughts?

    Anthony

Re: Cabling of the Dallas Temp Sensors,

Further to a conversation with one of my colleagues, I have been looking at the Dallas datasheet thinking that the plan view of the sensor was the top looking down, inspite of the diagram stating bottom.  He explained the details that bottom was looking up the legs of the connector not the top down, hence I had crossed the Volts and the Earth cables at the Webbrick connection.

Have re-soldered my connections and all are working well.

    Regards

    Anthony

Re: Cabling of the Dallas Temp Sensors,

    Hi Anthony,

I am glad to hear that you have got the sensors working now.

Going by the description of your problem, the wrongly connected 18b20 was shorting out the external 5V rail and causing a brown out of the internal 5V rail. In turn leading to the processor not starting properly and the webserver not running. Hence the problem connecting to the WebBrick through its Web Intreface.
