    Connectors for Soundlab dimmers

    1)    Has anybody found IEC female connectors which accept the wires through holes with screws coming down (as in 13A plugs) rather than by wrapping around?

With 1.5mm^2 T&E it's pretty difficult to get them to connect neatly?

    2)    How about cables with the connectors for the Analog Input on the Soundlab?

(I didn't fancy the effort of soldering  so I thought I'd buy the shortest cable possible and cut off the two ends.

I have bought two types but in both cases the plug tends to come out from the dimmer.

P.S. What is the official name for these connectors - DIN 8pin seems to be something slightly different.

    Richard,

Never seen any rewirable iec 320 with better terminals and I have bought and wired thousands in my time they are horrible - for critical applications solder them, better still buy ready moulded ones, neater, cheaper and more reliable, a company like Interpower will make them up to order in any reasonable length - they are designed for 0.75 FLEX and will be unsafe if you try and put 1.5 T&E in them, I don't suppose you can get the strain relief on the cable or the lids screwed shut on the connector which will leave the pins floating!

The soundlabs do use din 8 ways - RS do a whole range of latching, screw and twistlocking types (for masochists) - you'll have to change the sockets of course for which you'll need the patience of a saint and a temperature controlled iron :-)  I'd rather wire IEC's!!!
