Note for wirring analogue outputs with dimmers

Apon wirring my webrick to my Soundlab dimmers through the anologue outputs i found that the 240v lighting conected to the dimmer would only go to what looked like 50% the brick was indercating dimmers / anologue outs at 100% (confused) after re-assesing wirring 240v and low voltage it was found that if you use the G of the 1 wire data bus on the webbrick at 100% on the A/ output you were only getting 5v where should be 10v. Error or just a work arround anyway just thought i would post it. Andy if you have any explanations they will be welcome.

     I do !!

The outputs are 0-10V, but connecting the 5V you were getting a -5 to +5 signal.  The dimmer will only operate on the + side, therefore the 50% as reported.

This also caused the problem you reported on the WebBrick interface - which I'll note separately because its useful to everyone!

So is the G in the Temp section not a common G like the others on the brick?

If it ain't broke, fix it until it is

(advice from me is just that, advice)

    Alex

All 'G's on the WebBrick are connected to the same plane.  The only exception is the protective ground which is simply a barrier between the ELV (extra low voltage) and the LV (main end).

I made the guess that you'd had accidentally connected one to the left because I've seen identical symptons before!
